LOAN COUNCIL ADAMANT.
Received Thursday, I a.m. MELBOURNE, Aug. 5. The Loan Council met to-day. It was learned that the Treasurers are unanimously opposed to recommending any further money fbr New Soutn Wales at the present juncture. The matter will probably be finalised to-morrow. ;>■ Delegates furnished reports regarding the measures being taken by the various States to give effect to the rehabilitation plan. One Per Cent. Reduction in Bank Rate Received Wednesday, 9.30 p m. SYDNEY, Aug. 5. The Commercial Banking Company, of Sydney, Ltd., announces a reduction of interest on overdrafts of 1 per cent, from August 1.
