Big Sums Pass in Mungana Transactions
REVELATIONS IN CASE AGAINST POLITICIANS. United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. Received Wednesday, 9.50 p.m. BRISBANE, Aug. 5. In the course of the Mungana action, Mr. McGill, counsel fer the Crown, read answers hy the defendants to the Crown’s interrogatories. Goddard admitted that Reid had allotted 1260 shares in Mimgana Mines, Limited, to him “in consideration cf friendship, advice and assistance which Goddard had given him in mining undertakings. ’ ’ McCormack admitted his interest in Mungana mines began in December, 1917, under a verbal agreement with Reid. McCormack received £10,596 for his 3476 shares which was paid to the company by the Queensland Government. Mr, McGill also tendered answers by McCormack showing that he paid various substantial sums to Theodore between April, 1922, and July, 1925, the largest of which was £I6OO. Theodore did not give receipts. Theodore in turn confirmed the receipt of these sums. The case was adjourned.
