Sponsored by the Dannevirke Gliding Club and loyally supported by Dannevirko business nlen and public bodies, the Dannevirke Industrial and Aviation Exhibition, which opens to-day, promises to be a brilliant success. Tho exhibition committee, with its various sub-committees, has overlooked nothing to make the fixture an outstanding one. The organisers, firstly Mr. E. Homer and laterly Mies K. Miller and Mr. H. S. M. Quigley, have worked unsparingly, with the result that the show has attracted Dominion-wide attention. During the last two days, the Drill hall has been a scene of bustle. Eirst, the various aircraft had to be reassembled inside and raised to a position above head level. This done, work Was put in hand by the firms exhibiting end by those responsible for the special exhibits. Weather permitting there should be a good number of visiting planes at the airport and these will take part in the aerial display on Saturday. It is hoped, given favourable weather, to drop from a plane, balloons in Dannevirke and iadjaeent towns. These balloons will have attached, souvenir free tickets to ,the exhibition. The Town, The town of Dannevirke has responded to the call for co-operation and retail houses are featuring special winidow displays as a part of a “Use More Wool” end “Buy New Zealand Goods" Campaign. Prime Minister’s Message. In a letter dated August 1 the Kt. Hon. G. W. Forbes conveys the following message: ‘'l wish to congratulate the organisers of the exhibition upon their initiative in undertaking the holding of such an exhibition, and I wish

their efforts every success. The objects of the exhibition, namely, the extension of interest in New Zealand industries and the kindling of interest in aviation in the district, are worthy of the greatest possible encouragement. May I urge tho people of Dannevirke and the surrounding district to give thoir active support to the exhibition. Furthermore, may I urge them to give continuously in tho future their unqualified support to tho industries of New Zealand, particularly the manufacturing industries, and also their support and encouragement to the causo of aviation in tne Dominion.

“Although the prosperity and the continued development of New Zealand will for many years bo inseparably associated with the farming industries of this Dominion, it is, nevertheless, equally true that the future prosperity and the welfare of tho people of this country depend to a large extent upon the satisfactory development of the manufacturing industries. It is to tno manufacturing industries that we must look more and more in tho future to absorb an increasing proportion of our population. It is mainly by the encouragement and the development of those industries that many of those now unfortunately out of work and many of the young people who leave our schools and colleges each year will be able to find irofitable employment. “Tho importance both from thß individual and national point of view of encouraging those industries by purchasing Now Zealand made goods on every possible occasion in preference to similar imported goods is therefore readily understood. “It is unnecessary for me to stress the importance of aviation to the Dominion, and the necessity for this country to keep abreast of the very latest developments overseas. Progress in aviation in New Zealand is to a great extent in the hands of the numerous aero clubs throughout the Dominion, and the success of these depends largely upon the measure of support and encouragement given by the general public, I trust therefore that the exhibition and air pageant in Dannevirke will arouse substantial interest in aviation amongst the people of the district."—(Signed) Geo. W. Forbes, Prime Minister.
