SCOTLAND POPULAR FOR AUGUST BANK HOLIDAY RUGBY, Aug. 1. A feature of the holiday traffic for bank holiday this week-end is the boom in travel to Scotland. Seven expresses are expected to leave the Euston and London termini of the London, Midland and Scottish lino for the north today. Over the week-end 3000 sleeping berths have been reserved, and 100 motor cars booked for transport.
All railways report an increase in the use of' cheap rates for the carriage of motors by people starting on road tours who desire to get into the country as quickly as possible. • Despite uncertain weather forecasts, the usual holiday resorts around London arc preparing for record crowds. Special provisions have been made by the authorities at the open-air zoological gardens at Whipsnadc to obviate the conditions of confusion and the severe traffic blocks which occurred at Easter.
The roads will carry an exceptionally heavy load. Motoring organisations have issued warnings and suggestions to drivers for the prevention of accidents.
The Automobile Association has prepared routes for its members representing 1,800,000 miles and —a new depar ture —covering 20,000 miles for holiday llights.
