Work of the Month of District Nursing Guild

At tho monthly meeting of the District Nursing Guild held in the City Council chambers .yesterday, Mrs. Hewitt was voted to tho chair, in the absence of Mr. J. A. Nash, M.P. Also present were Mesdames S. Trask, C. F. Spooner, J. Bctt, L. Bale, Z. Gill, M. Stock, Misses Nairn and Cunninghame also Mrs. M. Aitchison (hon secretary). Apologies for absence were received from Mrs. W. L. Fitzherbert and Mr. J. A. McLeavey. Nurse’s Report. Miss Jamieson, relieving nurse, submitted a report for the month of July, which stated that 260 visits had been paid to 52 patients and 21 new patients had been added to the books. Patients discharged numbered 22, and 26 patients had been carried forward. Donations wero gratefully acknowledged as follow: —Clothing: Aokautere Women’s Institute, Mesdames Thompson, Caverhill and Usman, also from tho Red Cross Society; food, from St. Andrew’s Church, St. Andrew's Ladies’ Guild, Mrs. Whitehead, Mrs. Silvester, also Palmerston North Technical School dance; books, from Mrs. Penny; bed and mattress, from Mrs. Clarke and pillows from Mrs. W. Cook. The report further stated that tho sum of £3 6s from an anonymous donor had been used mostly in providing firing in necessitous cases. It was also mentioned that £5 generously donated by the Business Girls’ Lunch Club was being expended in providing help in the home of a sick mother—the kindly assistance of the business girls w r as most favourably commented upon and it was resolved to forward a letter of thanks and appreciation of tho girls' concern in humanitarian work.

The report was adopted. Miss Jamieson was in attendance during the meeting and was cordially greeted. Various cases were brought forward for discussion.

Mrs. Gill offered an apology on behalf of Mrs, Coles, who is indisposed, and it was resolved to forward a letter of sympathy with Mrs. Coles expressing hopes for her speedy recovery. Thanks to Mrs. Hewitt for presiding concluded the meeting.
