Dannevirke Industrial and Aviation Exhibition

As tlie date of opening approaches, interest in the forthcoming Aviation and Industrial Exhibition to bo held in Dannevirke on Thursday, Friday and Saturday next, shows a considerable increase. Everyone is talking about it and considerable curiosity is evinced as to just what manner of display each competing firm will make for. At present, information on this point is closely guarded. Certain it is that exhibitors are keen to make a really good and interesting show, and the public will find that there will be plenty to seo and talk about when the show opens. The Drill hall has been specially wired for the electric motors which will supply the driving power for the various working models and machinery exhibits, and there will also be several “human working exhibits," so to speak, notably a lady spinner, who will give demonstrations, at stated times, of the spinning of wool by hand as our great-great-grandmothers did it, and as it is still done in many a croft and tiny farm across the sea. A demonstration will also be given of rug-making, both these being shown on the wool demonstration stand, organised by the Women’s Division. The Agricultural Department’s very comprehensive wool exhibit will be of special interest to farmers,' and Mr. J. C. Cook, the department’s wool instructor, will be in attendance throughout the show for the purpose of giving information to inquirers. There is also the home industry section, in which prizes will be given for the best in many lines of knitted and crocheted articles in wool. On the machinery side there will be various types of engines and aeroplane accessories and gliders. Side-shows and competitions wil 1 be plentiful for those who seek amusement, especially the competition for the most economical dross and the final fancy masque carnival. In short, three days of sight-seeing and fun are promised visitors to Dannevirke’s first Aviation and Industrial Exhibition, commencing on'Thursday next at 1 p.m. The official opening will be performed by the Mayor (Mr. M. D. Smith) at 2.30 p.m
