NOMINATIONS CLOSE FOR COMING ELECTIONS

Fourteen Candidates For City Council

SIX FOR HOSPITAL BOARD Nominations for the various local body elections that arc to be held next month closed yesterday at noon. As far as Palmerston City is concerned, there are only the two candidates already announced contesting the Mayoralty. Fourteen have been nominated, however, for the nine seats on the City council, including four only of the present council. Of the live who are not seeking re-election, Messrs. Mansf or:' and Eliott arc contesting the higher of lice of Mayor. Cr. D. W. Low is proceeding abroad on a trip, so that his services will not bo available. Cis. A. Guy and C. N. Clausen have not nominated again. There are six for the four seats on the Palmerston North Hospital Board, all the present city representatives being re-nominated. Only three have been nominated for the Manawatu-Oroua Power Board, and as only threo representatives are required, there will be no election. The samo thing applies in connection ■with the Wellington and Foxton Harbour boards, where only two and one representatives respectively are required.
