A London cubic message says that the Australian Press Association understands that Archbishop Kelly, of Sydney, is likely to be elevated to tho office of cardinal at the end of the month.

Tho death occurred in Wellington ou Friday of Mr. Joseph Dwyer, proprietor of the Midland hotel. The late Mr. Dwyer was bora in Dublin and educated in Manchester. He came to New Zealand in 1902, and had bcc-H engaged in the hotel business continuously. Deceased was president of the New Zealand Licensed Victuallers' Association for a long period. News has been received during the last day or two of the death of Mr. J. J. Frauklyn, a prominent evangelist of the Churches of Christ in Australia. Special reference was made to his devoted labours at the service in tho Palmerston North church on Sunday night last not only in this country but also in Great Britain. Mr. Franklyn will be remembered as the evangelist at Campbell street a .year or two ago. A speaker of no mean repute and always acceptable on the platform of the Protestant Societies, or the New Zealand Alliance.
