Side-Whiskers for Waiters
.Side-whiskers are worn by all the waiters at the Royal Palace Hotel, Kensington, London, which has made a dule that they shall be cultivated by all members of the staff. An official of the kote said recently: “One of the main objects of the rule is to make it easy to distinguish our waiters from our guests. It is generally accepted that all waiters shall grow side-whiskers as part of our campaign to give uniformity and dignity to our staff. We arc very proud of our waiters—their smart dress and appearance and their side-whiskers. “It has been said that the safest way to tell a waiter from a guest is to assume that the better-dressed of the two is the waiter. To do away with this situation we have introduced a system whereby all our waiters must dress alike, and if they have not got sidewhiskers they must grow them.”
