FRUIT BUNS One pound of flour, a pinch of salt, 2oz. lard, loz. of yeast, one teaspoonful of castor sugar, 2oz. oi granulated sugar, 2oz. of sultanas, 2oz. of candied peel, a brcakfastcupful of milk, ono egg. Mi:? the salt with the flour and put through a sieve. Then well rub in tho lard. Stir in the granulated sugar, the sultanas and spliced peel. Make the milk just lukewarm, beat the egg, put the yeast and castor sugar in a cup and stir until liquid. Make a hole in the centre of the ingredients, and pour in the yeast, milk and eggLcavo in a warm place 20 minutes, then beat until thoroughly mixed. Cover with a cloth and leave in a W'arni place ofr one hour. Form into round buns, put on greased baking tins and leave in a warm place for 20 minutes. Then make several cuts round each bun, from the centre to the sides, and bako for twenty minutes in a moderate oven. These are equally nice served hot or cold.
