Royal Act of Humility
ALFONSO AND ENA WASH FEET OF BEGGARS CLOTHING AND MONEY GIVEN United Press Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. MADRID, April 3. After a two years’ lapse, King Alfonso this morning ceremonially washed and kissed the feet of 13 blind beggars. The queen similarly treated 12 women, after which each beggar was given a basket of clothing and some money.
The beggars were specially cleansed and medically examined prior to the performance of traditional royal humility.
