Plea for Postponerant of “Cut”
MYSTERIOUS PLAN TO SAVE AUSTRALIA. Received Monday, 10 p.m. MELBOURNE, Feb. 2. The Federal Attorney-General, Mr. Brennan, to-day lodged an affidavit before Judge Dethridge in Chambers furnishing various reasons on behalf of the Commonwealth Government in support of the postponement of the ten per cent wage cut in Federal awards which is due to operate to-day. The affidavit stated that the Commonwealth Government was at present formulating a plan for the preservation of national security and solvency, for the stimulation of industry, the restoration of credit, and alleviation of unemployment. The immediate operation of tho ten per cent wage reduction might prove a serious, perhaps a fatal, impediment to the successful execution of that plan. Judge Dethridge referred .the application into the Arbitration Court for argument on 'Wednesday,
