Rain, Thunder, Snow and Very Cold A deep and extensive cyclone is now centred near Farewell Spit. The barometers havo risen in eastern Australia. Winds: Strong to gale’force gonerally westerly in tho Far North; elsewhere mainly northerly over the North Island but backing to southerlies within -about 12 to 16 hours; easterly and veering to southerly over the Soutn Island. Seas (New Zealand waters): Strong southerly winds to gales and rough seas in the eastern Tasman. Weather dull and misty with general rain; many heavy falls in the North Island and parts of Nelson and Marlborough with some flooding. Thunder in places and snow probable later. Temperatures becoming very cold.
