Laural Tillet, aged 4} years, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Tillet, of Broadway avenue, was knocked down by a baker's van on Wednesday mom-, ing and is at present an inmate of tho Palmerston North public hospital. Tho child wag behind the van when the driver started up the engine and he struck the child when temporarily backing prior to going forward. Mrs. Tillett managed to stop the driver before he backed over the child who was removed to the hospital suffering from shock and lacerations, although her condition was not serious.
