. Eric Fletcher (Palmerston North Boys’ High School, Manawatu and Manawhenua). One of the youngest and most versatile members of the team. A fast and very useful centre threequarter, “Curly” is one of those fortunate people born with the football sense. Ho is a very attractive back to watch and is an excellent product of the rugby training of the Palmerston North Boys’ High School. “Curly” captained P.N.B.H.S. in 1928 but gained liis first fifteen school cap in 1927. He left school at the end of 1928 and during the 1929 season linked up with Old Boys and represented both Manawatu and Manawhenua. As one of the most important links in the backline of both club and representative teams, ho lias paved the way to many line movements and both as a scoring back and place-kicker has scored many points for his side.

R. C. Page (Palmerston North Boys’ High School, Manawatu and Manawhenua). Another ex-High School star, and a player of the typical secondary school type. Page is one of the speediest; three-quarters who have worn the Manawhenua jersey, for lo his pace he adds scoring determination and over 12 stone avoirdupois. He wore the P.N.B.H.S. all white uniform for three years and in his last year as a member of the first fifteen was vice-captain of the school side. He also linked up with Old Boys after leaving school •'mil last year gained Manawatu anu Manawhenua representative honours. Page is not a graceful runner but lie has proved very hard to stop and early as if is, promises to be one of the most prolific scorers in this year’s club football. At school he played both as a second five-eighths and centre; it is only, since lie entered club football that ho has been played consistently as a three-quarter.

M. Henry (Reefton High School, Christchurch Training College, .Dunedin Training College, Otago junior reps., Manawatu). A hard-working fastbreaking front rorv forward who, al--1 though a newcomer to the district, lias well earned his inclusion in the Manawhenua team. Henry began his football career at Reefton D.H.S. and in .1925 and 1926 played for Inangahua sub-Union. . The following two years lie wore the Christchurch Training College colours and last season played for Dunedin Training College and Otago junior raps. He was included in the Manawatu team which met Horowhonna in the first of the inter-district trials. . E. Satheriey (Horowlienua, Manawhenua). Eric Satheriey is another big and fast forward who has earned a reputation as a toiler. He has seen all his football in the Shannon district and has worked himself up to the position of skipper of the Shannon club.

Cr. W. M. Riddell (Wellington College, St. Patrick’s College, Wellington Junior representative, Victoria College, Manawatu and Manawhenua). This clover and elusive back is one of the most valuable recruits to district football in recent years. After a distin. guished secondary school record during which he played successively for the first fifteens of Wellington and St. Pats Colleges, he represented ‘Wellington in, fourth, third and junior grade reps, before proceeding to Varsity and representing Victoria College. Riddell came to Palmerston North in 1928 and joined the Old Boys’ club, in the same year gaining his Manawatu* cap and going very close to* Manawhenua honours. He distinguished himself last season as a clever second five-eighths and earned his colours for the combined ~'Union. Riddell lias played as a wing three-quarter, a centre, and a first and second five-eighths. He tips the scale at 10.5 and is 25 years of age.

Rangi Akuira (Palmerston North Boys’ High School, To Ante College, Maori Touring team, Hawke’s Bay, Manawatu and Manawhenua). One of tile most experienced and probably the best known player in the combined district. Rangi is a very hard versatile player with a great kicking bout and a wonderful capacity for work. He Jirst came into prominence as half-back for Palmerston North Boys’ High School first fifteen' in .1919 and 1920. Playing in the 1920 King’s Birthday seven-a-sido tourney iic distinguished himself by kicking 19 penalties and conversions in 20 attempts at goal. In 1921, he transferred to To Ante College and the following year went to Australia with the touring Maori Team. On his return in 1923 he came to ••‘ Palmerston North and joined up with the Oid Boys club which he has represented ever since. Rangi has represented Manawatu since 1925 and Manawhenua since the combined district was first constituted. He was a member of the Hawke’s Bay team which first won the Ranfuriy shield for that province.

O. Galpin (Manawatu, Manawhenua, ■Wellington, Ail Black trials). Galpin though older than Henry, is a rugged, hard-working forward of the same type. Ho is never far from the ball and never lets up from whistle to •whistle. Galpin is the only member of the Manawhenua team which played, the Springboks, to bo . included in the side to meet the British team. Together with Doug. Brophy, he played for Wellington against the N.S.AV. tourists'and in 192-1 played in the trials for the All Blacks to tour England. He was also included in the North Island trials before the tour of Houth Africa. Galpin has represented Muuawatu since 1921 and joined the Old Boys’ club two years alter its formation. He learned his Rugby at fit. Patrick’s College.
