Feilding Girl Guides

SWIMMING SPORTS. The inaugural swimming sports of the Feilding Girl Guides and Rangers were held in the municipal baths on Saturday. The various companies were well represented and some exciting finishes were witnessed. Mrs F. Cameron, with the large committee of ladies who so generously give their time in the interests of the girls of the district, arc to be congratulated and commended on this effort on behalf of the girls under their charge. Before presenting the prizes, Mrs Cameron thanked the members of tho Feilding Swimming Club for their assistance ami also Mrs E. H. Fisher for services rendered during the afternoon. The speaker also called the attention of the guides and ramgors present to the fact that the few of their ranks who had not attended the roll call at the sports were not as loyal as those who were in attendance.

The following is. ho result of the competition for the Herbert Smith cup: I. Desmond 9 points, 1; W. Stuckey 8 points, 2; and N. Eaton, 5 points, 3. Three of tho events on the programme were enp races and the pla.ced girls in these races were awarded points for the trophy. Following are the details: — 25yds breaststroke (enp event): N.
