The Morning Post’s Madrid correspondent states that General Berenguer is retaining a strict censorship. He aims at preventing new political parties being organised immediately. Republicanism is undoubtedly arising with new vitality, There is a tendency on the part of the political elements tp combine into groups of Republicans and Monarchists. A prolonged strike at the smelting •works at Sazunto gave rise to the report that a revolution had broken cut there, but this is without foundation,
Sins of Dictatorship Now Visited on Alfonso CONFLICTS WITH POLICE. Received Sunday, 7 p.m. MADRID, Feb. 15. The police were in conflict with the unemployed, many of whom were wounded and arrested. The political and industrial situation throughout Spain is most confused. The Republican leader, Senor Lerroux and the Liberal leader, Senor Unamuno, aro violently and abusively attacking King Alfonso.
The public is becoming enlightened regarding the extravagance and maladministration of the Dictatorship, which is contributing to the criticism of the King. Unemployment is increasing, owing tp the cessation of do Rivera’s public works programme. A mob at Barcelona attacked', the headquarters of the Patriotic Union, which supported the Dictatorship. Reinforcements of gendarmes repeatedly charged and dispersed the rioters. King Alfonso, accompanied by tho Diplomatic Corps, has left Madrid by a special train for Riofris on a hunting expedition. The King has issued a decree dissolving the National Assembly formed by de Rivera.
