monthly progress. Mrs. W. D. Carson, presided at the first meeting of the New Year of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union yesterday. Members present were: Mcsdames Howell, Shaw (sec.), Field, Lord, Bond, Doughty, Black, Mitchell, Armstrong. Apologies were received from Mesdames Swainson, and Hughes. The secretary Tead a letter of appreciation from a family at Bunnythorpe, who had received financial help from the division, during the month of December. Advice from headquarters Wellington, read to the effect that, “travelling expenses” of housekeepers, who are m the employ of the Woman’s Division of the Farmers’ Union, was to be paid from the government yearly grant of £l5O. . , . Discussion ensued as to what steps the division should take for the entertainment of the British farmers who are visiting Palmerston North, early in March, the president stating that apart from a brief visit to Massey College, the visitors who would only be in Palmerston North a few hours, were to be entertained at the showgrounds. If, however, members of the division, had cars, they would bo much appreciated for the conveyance of the visitors to and from Massey College and the showgrounds. The secretary, Mrs. Shaw, was instructed to write to Levin, and Otaki, and ask the officers of these districts, to send representatives to be present at the next monthly meeting of the division in Palmerston North, with the idea of forming a provincial district executive.
