Veteran Roman Catholic Bishop
DR. KELLY CELEBRATES HIS 80th BIRTHDAY. United Press Association. —By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. Received Thursday, 10.50 p.m. SYDNEY, Feb. 13. Dr. Kelly, Roman Catholic Archbishop of Sydney, to-day celebrated his 80th birthday. The occasion was a notable one at St. Mary ’s Dr. Kelly being the celebrant of a Pontificial High Mass. There was a distinguished gathering, the Government and Civic Commissioners being represented. The Apostolic Delegate,- Archbishop Cattanes, attended by his private secretary, was present. The attendance included a number of bishops and 150 priests. The sermon was preached by Dr. Gleeson, Co-adjutor, Bishop of Maitland. He praised tho work of Dr. Kelly, who is shortly visiting Rome.
