“Niobe”

CONCLUDING PERFORMANCE. The concluding performance of the comedy “Niobe” by the Feilding Amateurs was staged at the Tivoli theatre before a full house last evening when the cast of fourteen acquitted itself in an entirely satisfactory manner. There was general admiration for Miss Anne Lindstrom for her artistic interpretation of the name part and the work of Miss Eileen Redwood was astonishingly good. Alf. Kingston, whom everyone admires for his polished work, handled his part with distinction, while Walter Norris captured the audience with his faultless acting. Other members of the talented company combined to give a finished production which will long be remembered as an outstanding effort of the Feilding Amateurs. At the conclusion of the first night’s performance, the Mayor, Mr. C. E. Taylor, referred to the fact that the effort of the company was to raise funds for the Feilding library and he reminded the audience that the efforts of members of His Neicc Company had been responsible for raising something like £IOOO for various public interests i* Feilding. He eulogised the work of Mr. Alf. Kingston and his associates and in response to his invitation the audience roundly applauded the performers and their popular producer. Mr. J. Gordon Eliott, president of the company, said that it was with re~ gret that he had to announce the disbandment of the company which had commenced its career in 1924. All recognised the extraordinary amount of work which Mr. Kingston had done towards the successful production of several plays and Feilding was particularly fortunate in possessing one who gave so generously of bis time for tbe wc * fare of others. In acknowledging ' the enthusiastic applause, Mr. Kingston confirmed the announcement regarding the disbandment of His Neice Company and referred to the amount of work necessary for the production of such performances as “Niobe.”

Complimentary Social. At the conclusion of the final performance the members of the company together with the officials were the guests of the Feilding Borough Council at a supper party held at the Picadilly tearooms, the Mayor, Mr. C. JB. Taylor, presiding. The thanks of the town were conveyed to Mr. Kingston for the company’s generous effort behalf of the Feilding library and high praise was accorded all who had contributed to the success of the various performance- “tived by. the company.
