CYCLE RACES. On Wednesday evening the Feilding Amateur Athletic Club conducted another of its popular evening meeting!!, before a large crowd. The events were 81 miles road cycle race for a medal donated by Mr. Len Stevens, which was keenly contested by 13 riders, and a boys’ 4J miles race for a medal given by Mrs. Len Stevens. Results were as follow: — 81 mile road race: R. Hirst (20sec.) 1, H. Walker (20sec.) 2, W. Pedley (scr.) 3. A length separated the riders, the remainder of the field finished close up. Time, 25.23 4-5. Boys’ 4|- mile race: Kitchen (lmin.) 1, Woodman (scr.) 2, Laurenson (U min.) 3. Time, 13.14 1-5. The medals are on view in Mr Stevens’s window, in Fergusson street. Championship Points. The following are the points for the Smithers Cup for most points in cycling: Sowerby 22, A. Groombridge 16 H. Walker and F. Groombridge 12, Pedley 10, Littlejohn S, Hurst and Stevens 6, Tweibruch 4. Mr. W. Sowerby has kindly donated a trophy to the runner-up in the senior club championship. Boys’ points: Woodman 16, Hollis S. Hcskcth 7, Kitchen, Naylor and March (i, Laurenson 5, Hight and Flanagan 4, Grinrod 2. Next Meeting. On Wednesday, February 19, commencing at 6.30 p.m. a quarter miltand 5 mile grass track events will be conducted, also a boys’ race. Nominations close with Mr. J. Ferguson, on Monday, 17th, at 5 p.m.
