Newman Takes Lead in Game With McConacby

At billiards, Lindrum has scored 20,176, including breaks of 720, 426, and 603. Smith (in play) is 17,057, including breaks of 529, 330 and 611 (unfinished.) McConacby, playing, has reached 15,203, including breaks of 413 and 235. Newman is 15,883, including breaks of 378, 575 and 342. Newman took the lead for the first time in tho match with a brilliant 578, scoring 1399 in the afternoon session, his average being 101, while McConadfcy, who was off form, qnly averaged 38. The New Zealander, in the evening, made a fine 413, averaging 63, against Newman’s 61. Lindrum’s 603 is his fifty-third break of over 500 during seven weeks, beating Smith’s record for the whole of last season . • Davis (1141 unfinished ( is now 16,921, and leading Falkirier (15,871) to whom he conceded 3000 points.
