Sir Alexander Roberts, Mayor of Lower Hutt, will bo the principal speaker at the br6aking-up ceremonies of the Palmerston North Girls’ and Boys’ High Schools on December 18.

A donation of £SOO has been given to the Rangiora High School, by Mr T. Chapman, a retired farmer of Christchurch, towards the fund for the development of agricultural education, of which the school makes a special feature.

He left home at three o ’clock : to shoot rabbits and at seven o’clock his wife, being alarmed because he did not return, called friends to search for him. Tho body was found near a batbed wire fence and a double barrelled gun, with one barrol discharged, was found standing upright against the fence.
