DIGGING DEEP FOR THE TUNNEL PORTAL.—The height of tho banks above the council’s steam navvy and the figures of the men give a good idea of the depth of the cutting which has been made on the Hataitai side for the approach to tho new tunnel through Mount Victoria. The cutting is now practically back to the point where the actual tunnel will commence.
