THOMAS TO DISCUSS AFFAIRS AT OTTAWA
BEAVERBROOK’S STUNT. Auart. Press Assn. —United Service. Becoived Sunday, 7 p.m. OTTAWA, Aug. 17. The Rt. Hon. J. H. Thomas arrived at Ottawa on Saturday to discuss various matters with the Canadian Government, particularly immigration. He declared:. “Wo do not desire to dump our people anywhere, ” He expressed confidence that General Dawes and the Prime .Minister, Mr Ramsay MacDonald, would Teach an agreement on armaments. On being asked for some observations On Lord Beaverbrook's campaign for free trade within the Empire, he said: "I don't thinks it was a campaign.” “Merely a stunt?” suggested the newspaper man. “You have supplied my deficiences of epee eh,” the Minister replied. The Minister said he would discuss every aspect of trade relations as they affected Britain and Canada.
