FINAL GALLOPS FOR WHIPPETS' NATIONAL

ASSOCIATION’S NEW OFFICES. Times Special Service. CHEISTCHUECH, Last Night. Beautiful weather prevailed for the final gallops of the whippets competing at the National meeting. The track was hard. Lone Star, Wee Polly, Commedionne and Jenny were associated over the National Hurdles’ course. Lone Star won easily. Gold Tinge beat Little Ruby, Tom Pepper and Marie Jean over the Cup course. Black Pepper easily beat Betty, Heather Bell, Captain Comedy and Manscott over hurdle course. Princess Rose gave an excellent display over the battens and has come into favour. Great interest was evinced in a gallop by the visiting dags, Gold Dust (Palmerston North) and Blue Popper (Dunedin) over the Cup course, Gold Dust winning with Giggles close up third. liantly. Tom Pepper ran off. The election of officers at the annual meeting of tho National Whipper Association resulted: —President, Mr. J. R. Johns; vice-presidents, Messrs Cousins and Forbes; treasurer, Mr. V. Drake; hon, secretary, Mrs. Biltcliffe: executive, Messrs Aitehison, Biltcliffe, Fitzsimons, Grenfell and Harper. The incoming committee was recommended to endeavour to get the methods of handicapping standardised for New Zealand.
