Fight Stopped in Ninth NOW ELIMINATED FROM HEAVYWEIGHT CONTESTS GAME, BUT NOT GOOD ENOUGH. United Press Association —By Electria Telegraph—Copyright. Received Friday, 7 p.m. NEW YORK, Aug. 15. In the Campolo-Hecney light, the Argentinian won in the ninth round, the referee intervening. Heeney started an immediate body attack. Campolo retaliated with three hard upper cuts to tho heart. They then settled into a fast and furious pace. Campolo rocked Heeney with lofts and rights to the face. Heeney rushed the Argentinian to the ropes, Campolo spitting blood. Heeney’s round. In the second round Campolo appeared leg weary. Heeney resumed his boring-in tactics. The Argentinian drove a hard right to tho face, but the New Zealander blocked; then he drove another that put Heeney on his heels. Campolo was carrying the attack to the New Zealander when the bell went. Campolo's round. In the third round both men were punching hard all the time, and both assimilating much punishment. Heeney was red under tho heart from the Argentinian's punches and the crowd was on. its feet, applauding the New Zealander’s mauling of his opponent. Heeney’s round. In the fourth round, Heeney almost floored the Argentinian with a tremendous right to the chin. HeCncy kept following his man, who was apparently groggy, punishing him viciously. Heeney's round. In the fifth round the New Zealandor lost his balance and almost fell. Campolo was fighting back. Both seciied tired. He arose and staggered helplessly round the ring and the referee stopped the bout. The New Zealander’s face was gory as he was helped through the ropes. Although Heeney fought gamely and put up an excellent showing against his towering opponent, tho New Zealander seems to be definitely eliminated from a so-called come-back for the heavy-weight title, according to the consensus of opinion among boxing experts and Campolo becomes an important factor in tho hedvy-weight elimination bouts. A professional boxing contest between Sammy Shack (America) and Bobby Delaney (Australia) for a purse of £2OO went the full i 5 rounds at the Drill hall to-night. Both men proved themselves clever boxers and they also did some good close-in work. Shack, however, had the better style and was the cleverer of tile two. The fight for the first seven or eight rounds was not of a very spectacular character but thereafter the pair invested it with more vigour. Neither was very distressed when the last gong went. Shack piled up substantial margin of points.
