AMAZING SIDELIGHTS ON UNDERWORLD VENDETTA
DEATH OF GUNMAN GAFFNEY. Australian Press Association. Received Friday, 8.50 p.m. SYDNEY, Aug. 16. Amazing sidelights on the under■world vendetta were revealed at the coroner’s inquiry to-day on the gunman, George Gaffney, who was fatally shot outside the home of James Devine at Maroubra at midnight on July 18. Gaffney, according to the evidence, had previously shot Frank Green and expressed his intention of carrying the feud to the bitter eml. Devine, on whose behalf a plea of justifiable homicide was made by his solicitor, was committed for trial in September on a charge of murdering Gaffney.
