\ w / yyy And leads production Ever since the Chrysler Four cylinder car, re-named Plymouth, invaded the lowest price field, the demand has outstripped production capacity. The buying public immediately appreciated that Chrysler leadership had again excelled, by offering for the first time a full-size quality car at a small cheap car price. But to increase production and maintain standardised quality requires time. Plant capacity is being constantly extended, and has now, according to latest advices, attained 1050 cars per day, hut still does not overtake the ever growing demand; running at that date with some 17,000 orders in hand and over 'SOOO orders actually behind. The Chrysler built Plymouth is the only low priced car offering all the quality features of roominess, internal-expanding hydraulic four-wheel brakes, full forced feed lubrication, etc., etc. PLYMOUTH CAR PLANT MODEL OF EFFICIENCY The new Plymouth auto manufacturing plant, only recently pkcedtn operation, is one of the most modern and completely equipped inthe world; It occupies twenty-threeaa-esoffloor mace and is the largest single floor structure of ite kind in the world. The plant itself is 2,490 feet, (almost half a mile long) and with thetorty acre plot on which it stands represents an investment of over £2,000,000. Due to this single floor plan, it has been made possible, through the use of twelve miles of conveyor machinery to JP~ d ““. 3 care a day, when operations are on a single shift basis and 2,Q00 cars on a two-shift basis. Two thousand nine hundred and forty individual machine tools, all operating under their own motor power, perform the myriad of functions necesfary to make the various parts of the engines, control and running gear. One hundred tons of standard steel were used to construct the ovens in which fenders are enamelled. There are 200 runningin stands to handle the engines that are constantly being tested prior to installation in their chassis.
