NO PROTEST PROM BRITAIN.
REPRESENTATIONS NOT MADE CONCERNING FRANCE’S DEBT, United Press Association—By Eleetrie Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, July 4. In the House of Commons to-day, Mr. P. Snowden stated that no representations had been made to the United States to the effect that the tariff increases must add to the difficulties of paying the British debt to America. The Prime Minister’s announcement of the Government’s intention in rerefence to the McKenna duties, Mr, Snowden said, were clear and explicit. He had nothing to add. No representations had been made to France regarding her debt to Britain. He had received the experts’ report on the subject but ho was not prepared to make a further statement at present.
