FORMER AUSTRALIAN’S QUEER EXPERIMENTS

Men Lie giants, dogs as huge as donkeys, rats as big as cats, and liens that lay eggs large enough to supply a meal for a whole family! This is the vision of a Leeds inventor and scientist, who claims to be on t'he verge of discovering a “food of the gods,” that will produce giants of stature and brain. ....

The inventor is Air Roger Birtwhistle, a man of- private means, who retired many years ago from a public public post in Australia in order to devote his entire energies- to private research woTk. After a lifetime of experiment and investigation in quest of a magic elixir that will make men and animals grow more quickly, ho stated recently that ho has reason, to hope that his dream is nearing realisation after recent work in conjunction with an American professor. “I have discovered a mixture with which I have made'a number of partly successful - experiments with rats,” Mr Birtwhistlo stated. “A week ago six rats were injected with the mixture. Two died immediately. The other four lived three days, during which time they increased their size by over three inches. I have not yet been able to asert-ain the cause of death,- but I am now engaged in making certain modifications to my mixture whieh I hope will make it completely successful. “Later on, I hope to conduct experiments with other animals, and, if all goes well, tho day may not bo far distant when I shall try my experiment on myself. To bring about those changes in human beings, however, it is necessary that they shall coincide' with de finite stages of development.”- •
