DISCRETIONARY POWER FOR DEER DESTRUCTION

CULLING OUT HERDS. With the apparent object of destroying inferior animals among the doer in acclimatisation districts, the government is granting special discretionary power under certain authorities for the shooting of deer during the next 12 months. A recent Gazette states that, notwithstanding anything in the Animals protection and Game Act,, l‘J2l-22, the secretary of the acclimatisation, society o,r any persons authorised by him, may, for 12 months from the date of the Gazette, kill such red or fallow deer of cither sex and any ago which, in (lie opinion of the secretary or authorised persons, should be destroyed.
