DEMOCRATS BEGIN TO MAP PROGRAM FOR NEW ATTEMPT

LEADERS ANSWER RASKOB'S CALL.

NEW YORK. The Democratic party, in building up its programmo for a strong, "militant'’ organisation, will attempt to get into full swing by the time of the congressional election next year, according to a statement by Mr. John J. Raskob, national chairman, following a meeting of party leaders just held here.. Tho gathering, called by Mr. Raskob, was held in his apartments; l in Carlton House. It was tho first formal conference to be held by the leaders of the Democratic national organisation since tho presidential election. "We aro planning to organise for the congressional campaign of 1930 anil will not wait for the presidential campaign of 1932," Mr. Raskob' said. Tho deficit of the Democratic party, he added, now is "between .1,300,000 and 1,400,000 dollars.” Emphasis will bp placed on the strengthening of the various state organisations, which the Democratic leaders regard as vital to the development of efficient national- operas tions.
