GIFT TEA AT “AROTAI” CUNNINGHAMS

“Arotui,” Cunninghams, the home of Mr and Mrs Charles England, was on Wednesday afternoon the scene of a delightful gift tea for Miss Elsio Francis, of Colyton, the hostesses being Mesdanrcs C. England, D. I’. Buchanan and R. 0. French. On her arrival the guest of honour was presented with a beautiful bouquet of roses and autumn foliage by little Miss Mary French, tho bouquet having been made by Mrs Jack Buchanan. Chrysanthemums in shades of bronze and gold were artistically arranged in the drawing room which with its cheery lire presented a very attractive appearance An interesting competition held there provided much entertainment and was won by Miss Marea Bailey. A profusion of crysanthemums and autumn leaves adorned the dining room where a delicious afternoon tea was dispensed. Mrs England received her guests attired in a smart frock of beige georgette embroidered at waist line in oriental shades. Mrs Buchanan wore a model frock of fawn silk marocaiu with appliques of rod and gold at neck and on the sleeves, and a small fawn hat trimmed in matching tints; Mrs French, beige georgette and iaco with touches of mauve, smart black hat; Miss Francis, becoming ensemble in green and beige with hat to tone.
