NAPIER, Last Night,
The hearing has concluded in the Maori Land Court at Hastings before Judge Joues and Judge McCormack, of natives’ claims' concerning the Aorangi block.
Nino years ago a Royal Commission decided that the natives of Central Hawke’s Bay had been wrongly dispossessed of an area of 7200 acres sold in tlie ’sixties by the Crown to Mr. Sydney JoHnstbuo. "'A special statute gave power to the Native Land Court to'take evidence and recommend what would bo adequate compensation for the’ period of approximately 05 years. Tho Maoris submitted a claim for £240,000 Which the Crown reprosenta-. tivo before the "Court opposed. The judges reserved their decision.
