PRODUCING PORK.
A TON PER SOW.
Tho results secured by some of tho winners in State pork production contests in 1928 give us an inspiration ta urge more farmers to become interest ed in the project for 1929, says an American paper. The Minnesota contest was won by J. H. Nargang of Winona County, who raised 92 pigs from 10 sows and made them weigh 2281b5. each at six months of age. The total production from the ton sows was 20,9761b5., or an average of 2,097.61b5. to the litter. The lowa contest was won by ,C. C. Verwcrs, of Decatur County, who pro* duced S 8 pigs from 10 sows and made them average 244.41b5. each at six months of age. The ten sows averaged to produce 2,1511b5. pork per litte: or a total of 21,5131b5. It is not so hard to pick out the best litter and make it weigh a ton at sis months of age but to make all the sows that farrow come through with a ton of pork each, that’s different. Try it this year.
