Weddings
SPEIGHT-SMIDi. On April 27, a very quiet evening wedding was solemnised, at the residence of the bride’s parents, Awapuni, the parties being Miss E. Smidt, and Mr E. J. Speight, of Hastings. The Rev. G. T. Brown officiated at the service. A sister fif the bride, Miss i Gorda Smidt,; wa? bridesmaid, whilst > her eldest brother, Mr R. Smidt attended Mr Speight as. best man. Prior t© her marriage Miss. Smidt was for soifie.years on the staff of the local public hospital and at the .time of her resignation' was theatre sister at that institution, Tho happy couple later left, for the South Island, Mr Speight’having been transferred to tho Glenhope-Inangakua railway works, where, as engineer in charge, he and his bride will make their home.
