HISTORY OF ALL SAINTS’ PARISH

WRITTEN BY REV. G. W. DENT. COPIES PRESENTED TO VESTRY. In the course of his annual report to tho parishioners of All Saints on Wednesday evening, the vicar (Rev. Canon W. Fancourt) referred to a valuable and unique gift which had been made to the church. Rev. G. W. Dent formerly curate of All Saints, had conceived the notion of writing a history of the parish, and with the co-operation of his brother, Mr. Hugh Dent, of London, had published and presented to the vestry, 1000 volumes of “A Short History of the Parochial District of All Saints, Palmerston North.” It was beautifully bound and printed as only J. M. Dent and Sons could do it, and contained photographs of past vicars. The parish owed a great debt of gratitude to tho Rev. Dent aud Mr. Hugh Dent, for this book and tho vicar appealed to every member of the parish to purchase a copy. The proceeds from tho sale of the volumes are to go to the church funds.
