THE FACE IN VOGUE

(By Marraine de Pinaud.) To complement the Easter costume --a radiant complexion! For without tie consciousness of perfect "rooming no woman, however well-dressed or favoured by nature, can appear at her very best. In recent years thero has been a great to do about the influence of right thinking on health and happiness • —and the psychology of beauty is just as definite. Think consistently of beauty, watch the curve of the lips, tlio contour of the face, apply make-up with the skill ,of an artist, and above nil, keep the skin in a glowing, healthy dohdi.tion —the beauty will naturally tako care of itself. 'To'be sure, the whole question of liygieno must be considered before we can hope to attain the ideal of beauty. Eight hours of sleep, plenty of fresh air and sunshine, proper exercise and diet —all arc vitally important. But of equal value is the simple matter of cleansing and lubricating the skin. And thi3 I think we appreciate least of all. Do wc Tcmcmber, for example, that the skin is made up of thousands of tiny pores which secrete moisture and excrete oils necessary to the health of the skin—and sec that nothing retards the perfect action of these glands?

Many creams when applied to the face simply clog the pores into insensibility instead of freeing them for their natural functions. Wiping oil cream with

tissue or towel removes only the surface cream and forces the residue down into the tiny sensitive pores which soon tiro of the effort required to throw

off the impurities. And then follow all the ills the skin is heir to! The secret of a healthy skin is a thoroughly clean one. It is the deep, penetrating cleansing attained by using a soluble create that can be washed off in clear water, leaving the pores perfectly free to act on their own initiative. There is nothing to equal the soft freshness of skin that has been perfectly cleansed and stimulated to natural action, needing no "powder base" to furnish an artificial foundation for the make up. And nothing is easier to obtain. It is sufficient to put a round spot of soluble cream on each cheek and rub it in gently, all over the face. Then dip the hands in lukewarm or cool water, wash the cream away—and with it will come the countless particles of dust and dirt that have been imbedded deep in the pores. Afterward, apply a bit of rouge to lips and cheeks and perhaps a touch to the chin, if it becomes you. Dust the face and neck lightly with powder iu the right shado for vour type and costume—and you will-' not only feel younger and more beautiful than usual —you will actually be so. For so does the consciousness of perfect cleansing, perfect grooming, affect one in spirit and in fact.
