MONEY TO BE SPENT IN PALMERSTON NORTH
£86,000 AT MASSEY COLLEGE. V , At yesterday’s meeting of the Palmerston North Chamber of Commerce, the president (Mr. M. H. Oram) advised members that the Chamber would join with local bodies in the way of entertaining the two parties of South Island farmers who would be visiting Palmerston North in June. Mr. M. A. Eliott stated that i£ was in the interest of the town mat tho visitors should see as much of the district as possible. It was gratifying to note that though the Government had decided not to proceed with the deviation, it was still going*'to spend money in the town. The speaker then referred to the building scheme at Massey College, whore £SO,OOO was to be spent. The growth of the college would mean much to tlie district, as it would attract many visitors anxious to learn and see the work done. Professor Peren, who was present, stated that they had had many visitors during the month and the number seemed to be increasing. The building programme proposed involved the expenditure of about £86,000.
