LAW-BREAKING MOTORISTS CHECK SCHOOL CHILDREN

CROSSING KIWITEA BRIDGE The Kiwitea bridge is only wide enough to take one way traffic. In speaking at the annual meeting of householders of the Lytton street school on Monday night, Mr. W. G. Short asked that something bo done to protect the children who have to cross this bridge on their way to and from school. Recently, he had had occasion to caution drivers of motor vehicles against the practice of entering on tho bridge whilst children were crossing on their ponies. Time and again he hud had complaints from children that inotorists liad entered on the bridge whilst children were already on and the little ones were forced to turn their mounts back to allow the motor vehicles to cross. It was unlawful, said the speaker, for any motor vekiclo to enter upon a one way bridge when horso traffic was crossing. The meeting agreed that a protest was needed and it was decided to bring the matter under tho notice or the Fcilding police. *
