SLAIN WITH SWORD
POLITICIAN MURDERED IN TOKYO Yamamoto Senji, one of the two members of the now proscribed Radical Party, elected to the Diet, was murdered recently in an hotel# at Tokyo. At 9 o’clock a visitor sent up his name, seeking an interview, which Yamamoto declined. The visitor persisted at the bedroom door, and Yamamoto admitted him. The stranger presented a writen demand for Yamamoto to resign from the Diet. The men discussed the matter for 20 minutes, after which the visitor produced a short sword and attacked Yamamoto. In the struggle the stranger thrust the sword through Yamamoto’s heart.
The murderer surrendered *to the police. He is an obscure patriotic journalist. The crime is typical of the danger of Japanese politics, such desperate deeds being always sure of extended admiration. ■
