VAGABOND WOMAN FOUND STRANGLED IN SYDNEY PARK
Hands Tied Behind Back NEWLY-BORN BABIES PLACED IN GARBAGE TIN DISCOVERED BY PASSER-BY. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. Received Friday, 7 p.m. SYDNEY, March 22. A gruesome discovery was made on a flower bed in Hyde park in the centre of the city to-day. A woman's dead body was found with her hands tied behind her back, with the features distorted and a wound over the left eye. Tho city Coroner viewed the body before its removal. A post mortem examination revealed that the woman had been strangled or smothered overnight. She was identified as Vera Stirling, with a number of aliases, who regularly slept in tho parks. The police express tho opinion that tho woman was probably outraged, then murdered. Another ghastly discovery was made in a different part of the city. Twa newly-born babes, a boy and a girl, both dead, were found in a garbage tin. A pedestrian w r ho was passing saw a baby’s limb protruding from a parcel. He called tho police, who unwrapped the covering and disclosed the bodies.
