APPROACH OF NEW SEASON. FEILDING CLUB MEETING. A good muster of Rugby enthusiasts attended the annual meeting of the Feilding Football club on Thursday night, Mr. T. Collins, retiring president, occupying the chair. The attendance included two very likely new players, Bourkc, who played centre three-quar-ter for St Patrick’s College and Groshinski, who played hook for the Country team, Wanganui, last. year. The meeting was most enthusiastic and the opinion generally accepted was that the prospects for the coming scoson arc most bright. The annual report, already published, was adopted. Officers were elected as follow:—• President, Mr. T. Pagan; vice-presi-dents. Messrs T. Collins, D. W. Reid, G. Bartholomew, E. Hicks, B. Bailey, W. H. Hart, H. Chappell, A. R. Carter, L .A. Elliott, H. Parsonage, W. Stevens, O. Fowler, S. Fowler, E. H. Brewer and L. Gibbs; club captain, N. .Tones sec-, retary and treasurer, Mr. T. Kelly; auditor, Mr. A. H. Maguire; committee, Messrs G. Darragh, H. Bowler. V. Lawrence, A. R. Miers. T. Collius, S. Sauer, W. Manning, It. Benge, N. Jones and captains of teams; delegates to the Manawatu Rugby Union, Messrs T. Collins, T. Fagan, V. Lawrence, L. Bramwell, T. Kelly and A. E. Miers. The senior subscription was fixed as previously, while tho thirds was reduced to 10s, subject to the usual rebate of 5s if paid by April 30. The social committee which acted last year was 're-elected. Last year’s captains and vice-cap-tains were chosen as a temporary selection committee. It was decided to recommend to the incoming committee that a match with Hni Mai lie played as early as possible after .Easter. Steps arc to bo taken to arrange if possible for a junior match with Hui Mai also. A committee consisting of Messrs Pagan and Collins was appointed to interview the Old Boys’ club and the Boxing association with reference to making arrangements for the use of the gymnasium during the season. Appreciative references were made to the work of the retiring president and the retiring secretary, Mr. A. E. Miers and a motion was carried according these gentlemen tho ciub’s best thanks.

A motion of sympathy with tho relatives of the late Mr. tV* Quayle was carried and a letter of sympathy is to be' sent to Mr. J. Hepburn, who has entered hospital for treatment. Tiie -first practice will be held on April 6 and the first meeting of the new committee will be held on April 10.

OLD BOYS’ CLUB. The annual meeting of the Feilding High School Old Boys’ club was also held on Thursday evening. Mr. Wm. Bramwell occupying tho chair. There was an excellent attendance of players. The club decided to enter two teams in the Manawatu competitions, one senior and ono junior. The junior team had a more successful season than the previous one, but again met with the same trouble, lack of players. It was hoped that there would be -a few more to chooso from this coming season. The senior team had a fairly successful year, ending up by coming third in the competition. Tho club entered a team in the seven-a-side tourney but was not successful. The club was represented in tho Manawhenua representative team by M. AValdin, and in the Mana.watu representative team by several of the team. • The prospects for the coming season looked very bright. The juniors would have a better and a heavier team than last year while the seniors would also be strengthened by new players. The tbanks of the club were again due to Mr. Tankersley and Mr. Gibbs for the manner in which they had coached their respective teams, also to the officials and supporters of the club. In moving the adoption of the report, the president congratulated the club on its success and on the line spirit among the players. He thought they could not do better than stick to flic old school. Officers for tho ensuing year were elected as follow:—Patron, Mr. L. J. Wild: president, Mr. Wm. Bramwell; vice-presidents, last year’s list were rc-clected; secretary and treasurer, Mr. W. J. Cochrane; committee. Messrs J. Dcwe, C. F. Kerridge, M. Waldin, N. Bramwell and R. Shrimp ton; delegates to Rugby Union. Messrs Tankersley, G. Fitzpatrick, J. Dewe, N. Bramwell, C. Pearse: club captain, Pearsc; coaches, Mr. Tankersley (senior), Mr. Gibbs (junior). , , , It was decided to enter two teams in the Manawatu competitions—senior and junior. The meeting discussed the question of locality for practice, and it was decided to consult the Feilding Football club with regard to a proposal that Johnston park bo lighted up for weekI night practices.
