RUGBY FINANCES ARE IN HEALTHY STATE

Value of Ranfurly Shield POSITION OF COMBINED AND MANAWATU UNION'S A satisfactory financial position for the 192 S season is disclosed in the annual report of the Manawatu —Horowheuua Rugby union to be presented at the annual meeting next Wednesday evening. Tho report says:— “The finances of the union are in a healthy states as will bo seen from the balance sheet. On the receipts side there is a drop of £IB2O in tho gate takings, whilst interest on deposits an increase of £43 10s. Tho drop in the gate takings shows the value of a union holding the Ranfurly shield. The balance on deposit is now £SOO, being £6OO smaller than last year. Items of interest on the expenditure side of the balance sheet are:—Travelling expenses of representative players £671 12s lOd; entertaining representative teams, £l7 7s 3d; insurance payments £2l. On the receipts side, £451 10s was received from representative gates. Manawatu Council. As set out in tho annual report to be presented to the annual meeting on March 26, the finances of the Manawatu Rugby district council arc also in a most satisfactory condition. In this connection, the report states: — “The finances of the council are in a healthy state again this year. As in the previous season, all liabilities have been cleared. On the receipts side gate takings show an increase of £37 11s 9d; grants an increase of £ll 15s; season tickets an increase of £l9 19s, whilst insurance fees show a decline of £l6 16s 6. On the expenditure side Park road ground shows an increase of £IBO 14s 6d, Feilding ground shows an increase of £23 12s Id; gymnasium shows an increase of £l6 3s 4d; jerseys, balls, etc., show an increase of £25 3s 9d; insurance payments an increase of £27 13s 7d.”
