The contractor has made good progress on the two-storcy block during tho month. At the time of writing tho brick work is up to the level of the first floor and the boxing and reinforcing is being put in. The concrete on the first fioor will bo laid in about a week’s time. The work is making satisfactory progress. A large portion of my time during the past month has been devoted to preparation and work in connection with tho Hospital Boards’ conference. I am pleased to adviso now that the conference has concluded that the retting of stalls was most successful, and the exhibition of supplies proved an interesting feature of the conference. The thanks of the Board are due to a large number of Palmerston North residents who assisted to make the conference a success, more particularly to those who drove their cars at the various outings -which, were provided. The expenditure in connection with the conference which will be borne by the Board will be considerably under the amount which was estimated. All reports were adopted, a vote of thanks being passed to those residents who provided cars for the delegates during tho conference. Messrs. B. H. Just and A. G. S. Bradiieid were thanked for donations of plants for the hospital grounds. Financial Position.

The chairman, iD commenting on the financial position, stated, that they had commenced the year with an overdraft of £BSB which was now reduced con siderabiy. He anticipated finishing the year without it. Fees collected, to date were £4OO ahead of tttc estimate and it looked as though the amount expected to be collected, £9500, would be exceeded by £SOO. Charitable aid had cost £7OO more than estimated and the increased revenue from fees had been absorbed in this direction.
