TECHNICAL SCHOOL ANNUAL SPORTS

Many Records Go J. BUTT SENIOR BOY CHAMPION; J. EGLINGTON GIRLS’ SENIOR EVENT Big fields und interesting racing were the order of the day at the annual sports meeting of tho Palmerston North Technical school which was held on the Grey street grounds yesterday. Unfortunately, weather conditions during the morning compelled the abandonment of tho earlier portion of the programme, but the weather clerk was kinder during the afternoon and the greater number of the events were got off without interruption. The programme was lengthy and entries heavy, but under the capable management of members of the staff all events wenj concluded with the minimum of delay. The officials for the day were:—Starter, Mr. O. S. Stevenson; marksmen, Messrs A. J. Newman, W. F. Goddard; judges, Messrs J. Walker, D. E. Dredge, F. Harvey; timekeepers, Messrs Weston Smith and A. G. Eichards; supervisor of girls’ events, Miss M. H. Colquhoun; assistants for girls’ events, Misses J. and J. A. Young, C. Vautier, F. D. Ellis, C. Mardon, J. Mawliinney; blackboard steward. Mr. A. L. Bickardson; result stewards, Misses M. Jordan, C. Martinson and H. Cunninghame. Despite the soft nature of the track some fast racing was witnessed, with some very close flnishes. An ice cream and soft drinks stall on the grounds, drove a thriving trade in spite of tho unseasonable weather conditions. Championship Points.
