Feilding Next Month TWELVE TEAMS COMING For the 1029 Savile Cup polo tourney which opens in Feilding on April 4th., tinder tho auspices of the New Zealand Polo association, twelve teams will take part —eleven from the North Island, and one from tho South Island, This will be the largest assembly of polo enthusiasts yet seen in tho Dominion and the number oi' teams taking part is indicative of the mounting interest which is being manifested in this ancient sport of Oriental origin and of high antiquity. It. lias been claimed that Ihe sport of polo can be traced back to 000 8.C., and while it. has been played in New Zealand for many years it, 'is only in recent time that it has shown a decided tendency towards greater popularity. There are twenty two clubs in New Zealand and soma two hundred players. The Savilo Cup tourney has been played in Feilding on tho association's ground for some years now and the forthcoming gathering will witness tho play of tho best teams in the Dominion. Four matches a day will be playmi—two in tho morning and two in the afternoon —so that for a period of seven days the game will be constantly in, action. In addition to the Savilo Cup contest there will bo competitions for the Handicap cup and tho Junior cup. Draw for Savile Cup. Yesterday tho draw was made for the Savilo*cup with the following result: —Hawke’s Bay B' v. Hawke’s Bay C, Hawke’s Bay A v. Feilding A, "Wairarapa v.
