MOTH ’PLANE VISITS PALMERSTON NORTH
After a two hours’ flight from New Plymouth, a Gypsy Moth aeroplane •piloted by Mr John Smith, of Auckland, landed on the Manawatu Aero club’s landing site at Milson on Sunday. The ’plane remained on the ground until 2.30 p.m. yesterday, when Mr. Smith left for Blenheim en route for Christchurch. The machine is owned by the Auckland agents for the Gypsy Moth planes, and it was inspected by members of the committee of the recently formed Manawatu Aero club, which body has the purchase of a plane in view. It is understood, however, that no negotiations were entered into with Mr Smith on this occasion. At New Plymouth, the pilot undertook a number of passenger flights from the Bell Block grounds, but owing to the unpropitious weather conditions prevailing yesterday, he was unable to do so in Palmerston North.
