TO-DAY’S RECIPE
SPICED APPLE CONSERVE. Wash, core, peel and quarter enough juicy apples to make three quarts, then cut into cubes. Make a syrup by boiling together for 15 minutes half gallon water and b. sugar; add the rind and juice of two oranges, 21b. seeded raisins finely chopped, two teaspoons ground cinnamon and one teaspoon ground cloves. Boil for five minutes after the spices are stirred into the syrup, then put in the apples and boil for 15 minutes longer. Put into jars, cover and tie tightly.
